The TIM® Digest: Q2-2026

Published: 8 July 2026 - 10:45
Read duration: 3 minutes

A quarter full of of milestones

From sharing new scientific insights and launching TIM Cell to bringing the GI modeling community together during our very first InnoGI Conference, it has been an exciting period of growth and connection. We also continued meeting the community at conferences and of course there was still time for team moments.

This is your TIM® Digest, keeping you up to date on all things TIM® and beyond!

TIM Cell Launch: Measure Intestinal Permeability

Meet TIM Cell, our latest innovation, designed to bridge the gap between bioaccessibilty and absorption with apparent permeability. TIM Cell had been specifically designed to work with TIM® Intestinal Fluids (TIF).

By combining biorelevant gastro-intestinal simulation with dynamic intestinal permeability assessment, TIM Cell helps bridge the gap between bioaccessibility and absorption in oral drug development. The service combines TIM® generated intestinal fluids with gold-standard Caco-2 cells in a dynamic organ-on-a-chip environment using MIVO® technology from React4Life. Unlike conventional static permeability assays, TIM Cell incorporates continuous flow conditions and physiological intestinal features, including mucus and an extracellular matrix that supports cell differentiation, providing a more biorelevant assessment of intestinal permeability.

Advancing GI modeling with TIM®

This quarter, we’re proud to share two new publications that further highlight the value of the TIM® platform in in vitro GI modeling.

One used TIM-1 to investigate whether microRNAs in pasteurized human milk remain intact during infant digestion. The second one used TIM Colon to investigate the behavior of food additive E171 under different digestive context and the effect on gut microbial composition and metabolic activity.

Looking back at the 1st InnoGI Conference

Q2 marked a special milestone for InnoGI: we hosted our very first InnoGI Gastro-Intestinal Modeling Conference. Bringing together experts from the pharmaceutical, food, and research communities, the day was filled with inspiring talks, valuable discussions, and new perspectives on the future of gastrointestinal modeling.

But the conference was not only about science—it was also about connection. During the evening program, attendees continued the conversations over dinner, drinks, and a little bit of magic. And for those ready to start the next day with some fresh air, a small group joined our GUT UP & GO morning run through Delft. A great way to combine science, networking, and a bit of team spirit!

Take a look back at two days filled with inspiring presentations, valuable discussions, and memorable moments beyond the lecture room in our aftermovie

Where to meet us next

After a packed first half of the year, we’re keeping the momentum going with three exciting conferences. Conferences with content, we will have a booth, two presentations, and a poster presentation in the coming months.

  • CRS Annual Meeting 2026, Poster, – July 6-9, Lisbon PT
  • APS, Invited Speaker, – September 7-9. Newcastle, UK
  • American DDF, Booth & Presentation – September 14-15, Boston, US

InnoGI team activity

This quarter, we swapped our lab coats for aprons and headed to the KOOKstudio for an evening of Italian cooking. With a packed kitchen, plenty of enthusiastic chefs, and a menu full of delicious dishes, things got a little chaotic at times—but somehow everything came together perfectly.

And with all that cooking and tasting, some exercise was needed! A small team joined the Urban Walk Delft, taking on a 10 km route through our hometown. With the sun shining and temperatures rising, it was a warm challenge—but we made it to the finish line!
